Know your transfer targets-Pogba, Dybala, Lacazette and more.

Paul Pogba (Juventus)

Targeted by– Every big name in Europe is (or has been) linked with him despite the Frenchman insisting he is keen to stay with Juventus. Reports suggest City are hell-bent to get him and with Yaya’s form you can see exactly why. Michael Cox wrote an excellent article on why PSG and Pogba are a perfect fit.

Position-CMF

He has easily been Old Lady’s top performer this season. His passing is pinpoint, his dribbling immaculate, his technique sublime, and at the end of every fine performance by him, we are left wondering is he really 22 years old. He excites us like no other player in Serie A and his performance vs Lazio is our pick from a number of league games where he excelled.

Paulo Dybala (Palermo)

Targeted by-Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona. Recently claimed he would swim to Barcelona and referred to the Catalan gaints as his dream club.

Position- Forward

Labelled as the next Sergio Aguero, the 21 year old Argentine has taken Serie A by storm scoring 12 goals in 27 appearances. The most impressive aspect of his game is him dropping back to link up with his team mates, and then quickly rushing back into goal scoring positions. He has developed quite an understanding with Vázquez, and its not rare to see them interchange position when Dybala drops to become the playmaker and Vázquez goes ahead. Luca Rigoni’s goal against Napoli showcased this very clearly- Rigoni intercepted the ball and passed to Dybala who quickly turned past a defender, crossed to Vázquez , who headed the ball towards the onrushing Rigoni.

Alberto Bueno (Rayo Vallecano)

Targeted by– Palermo has identified Rayo Vallecano’s top scorer Alberto Bueno as the replacement for Paulo Dybala.

Position-Second Striker

Alberto Bueno seems to finally live up to the hype of his youth career.

The 27-year-old has been in stunning form in Spain this season, finding the net 15 times in 27 appearances. He was impressive in Real’s youth set up and came into the limelight when he won the 2006 UEFA European Championship with Spain’s U-19 team. A competition where he was the top scorer with five goals. Early on he was compared to Real legend Raul but after 3 appearances for the main team, he was let go. He has found rich scoring form with Rayo Vallecano this season, scoring 15 goals in 27 appearances.

Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

Targeted by- Arsenal, Liverpool. He has claimed himself that his future is in England or Spain.

Position-Center Forward

Lacazette’s transformation from a pacey winger to Ligue 1’s best striker has been phenomenal and unexpected. He can dribble and boy can he shoot with power. The 23 year old Frenchmen tops the Ligue 1 chart with 23 goals, six more than the nearest contender, Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Lyon, who trail leader PSG by just one point, will need him to continue his goal scoring exploits if they are to lift the title. Lacazette’s goal compilation (sorry for the awful music).

Mauro Icardi (Internazionale)

Targeted by- Chelsea and United.

Position- Forward

The 22 year old Argentine is praised for his clinical shooting and the ability to use his body. Seems lazy at time but 15 goals so far for a struggling Inter suggest its worth overlooking. He is only one goal behind Serie A top scorer- Carlos Tevez.

Matteo Darmian(Torino)

Targeted by-Manchester United, Bayern Munchen. Bayern are favourite to land him but United might be a better fit for him, as Louis Van Gaal is unimpressed by his left back options. He can also play on the right side

Position-Side back, has played as wing back, center back and winger too.

Familiar to English football fan, whom he impressed with his display against the Three Lions, in the World Cup last year. Confident going forward and great at closing gaps on the wings. He is versatile and can be deployed in a number of defensive roles. He loves tackling and is very clean and efficient about them.

Kevin Wimmer (Koln)

Targeted by- Sold to Tottenham Hotspur.

Position-Center Back

Koln have scored the third lowest goals in the Bundesliga, and it is only their defense that has kept them above the relegation/ relegation playoff spots so far. The rock in their defense is Austrian Kevin Wimmer who previously impressed in the second division also. The 187 cm tall defender thrives on physical challenges but displays good composure on the ball too. According to WhoScored.com he averages 6.6 clearances per game.
